The Ratcheting Medical Tourniquet (RMT) is designed
to control life threatening bleeding from an extremity.

The ratcheting medical tourniquet:

• is light, compact, sturdy, and simple to operate.
• can be easily applied with one hand.
• was ranked within the top performing group in the most recent NAVSEA trial published in April 2007.

Operation

• The RMT is simple to operate and can be quickly applied with one hand.
• The RMT comes with the 1 ½ inch nylon strap threaded thru
  the 1 ½ inch buckle.
• The injured limb can be placed thru the loop of the RMT
  and the 1 ½ nylon strap is then tightened securely.
• Once the nylon strap is tight the ratchet mechanism
  is then used to tighten the tourniquet further.
• The ratchet buckle is activated by lifting the tab. The tab has the colored cord attached. As the tab is lifted the teeth in the mechanism engage
  the ratchet strap and pull the s trap into the ratchet mechanism. This effectively shortens the strap and tightens the tourniquet around the limb.
• The RMT can be applied to a limb that is entrapped or if it is not possible to slip the loop over the limb.

The operator MUST obtain tourniquet specific
training prior to the use of the RMT.
