SLICKThis soft stretcher is designed to rapidly transport a casualty in a
hostile environment. The soft transport litter is simple to use and extremely durable. Light and compact, the soft stretcher is
constructed of material that is impervious to fluids, making it
easy to clean.

The soft stretcher is:

  • designed to be effectively used by a minimum number of soldiers.
  • ready to use and does not require assembly when under fire.
  • durable and allows the casualty to be carried or rapidly dragged.
  • flexible and is easy to use in confined areas such as buildings.
  • not hard or rigid and does not create pressure points.
  • able to remain under the casualty and will not interfere with X-ray, CT Scan, or MRI studies.
  • able to wrapped around or placed on a casualty to provide some environmental protection.

SLICK FeaturesHand Hold

To form the handhold, simply fold the corner over and into the slot. This provides a smooth edge to grasp and is ready to lift.

Straps

Two straps secure the casualty and may tighten from either direction. They are quick to use and offer a secure closure. The shoulders and pelivis act as a natural wedge when the straps are secured around them, preventing downward movement. This is important when the casualty is being transported by the two person drag method. This strapping method negates the need for groin straps which are uncomfortable and time consuming to attach when under stress. The straps can be easily removed for cleaning or replacement.

Carry Options

The litter may be carried by two or four people, dragged by two people, or dragged by one person.

To drag, lift from the head-end and drag the litter forward. Rapid movement is possible with this method. Two rigid poles may also be passed through the hand holds and strap attachment points if needed. The two strap attachment points may be adjusted to accommodate
the poles.

Sleeping pads may be placed on the soft stretcher to provide comfort and to assist in immobilization.

The soft litter transport is designed to carry a single casualty. The soft stretcher may be used to carry equipment using good judgment.

The SLICK is not intended for technical or high-angle rescue.
